Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information
The Department of Software Engineering and Game Development (SWEGD) represents fields at the forefront of high-impact developments. We take pride in our student-centered degree and certificate programs, which are enhanced by state-of-the-art instructional technology and applied research activities. The distinctions of our programs include high quality and accessibility to both traditional and non-traditional students. The Department is physically located in the Atrium Building on the Marietta Campus. For undergraduates, we offer a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Science in Computer Game Development. We offer a Minor in Software Engineering and a Minor in Computer Game Development as well. The Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Game Development is accredited under the general criteria of ABET (www.abet.org). Our graduate programs include a Master of Science degree in Software Engineering (can be taken fully online) and Graduate Certificates in Software Engineering Foundations and Software Engineering. SWEGD enrolls approximately 850 undergraduate and over 150 graduate students. In addition to welcoming full-time students with undergraduate degrees in computing fields, we also cater to two major non-traditional groups of students: those with baccalaureate degrees in other majors and those whose schedules allow for only part-time studies with a wide array of online courses. The department has 12 tenured/tenure track faculty, 8 lecturer/senior lecturers, 1 limited term faculty (2-year appointments), and 8-10 part-time faculty per term. The department is very collegial, and we welcome all qualified applications for the positions.

Minimum degree required is a Master's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science, or its foreign equivalent; Equivalency guidelines are provided in the KSU Faculty Handbook.

This program focuses on increasing opportunities for international learning experiences. In spring 2009, KSU awarded its first Global Engagement Certification to graduate and undergraduate students. As a destination campus, KSU offers students plenty of opportunities to experience campus life by participating in more than 150 student groups and organizations, including student government, sororities and fraternities, club and intramural sports, social and special-interest organizations, student publications and honor societies.

In 2009, the Kennesaw State Owls completed a reclassification from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I, competing in the Atlantic Sun Conference. During the transition from 2005-2009, KSU teams have won six Atlantic Sun Conference tournaments in five sports, including men's indoor and outdoor track, women's soccer, softball and cross-country.

Kennesaw State University has been recognized as one of the top universities in the country by the Chronicle of Higher Education's "2009 Great Colleges to Work For." Kennesaw State was originally established by the University System of Georgia as Kennesaw Junior College serving 1,000 students. The college became a four-year institution in 1976 and was named Kennesaw College in 1977. In 1988, on its 25th anniversary, it was named Kennesaw State College and in 1996 became Kennesaw State University.
